Canned Food Drive
It is time for the school wide November Canned Food Drive. This canned
food drive is a civil war theme. The Ducks and Beavers will compete within the
school. Who will bring in more food, the Duck fans? Or the Beaver fans?
All of the canned food is donated to SHEM, Sweet Home
Emergency Ministries, a local non-profit here in town. All the food you donate
will stay in Sweet Home!!!
Please bring in non-perishable food ONLY!! Cans or boxes of
food please! Each food item you bring in counts as one point for your team
(Ducks or Beavers). If you would rather donate money each dollar counts as one
point for your team.
Every day there will be boxes outside the kindergarten door.
Place your items in the box for your team (Ducks or Beavers). The food will be
stored at the school until the final day, November 18th.
November 18th – The Oregon Duck and a few
cheerleaders will be here for the final day. Benny the Beaver and a few cheerleaders will be here to root
for the Beavers. The mascots will visit in the afternoon. They will help load
all the food onto a bus to take it to SHEM. We will sit in the hall and cheer
as the mascots carry the food down the hall. Don’t worry Morning class you will
not be left out. Parents please put this date on your calendar now.

Hello Families,
This week we learned the letter C.
When you say c, the back of your tongue is humped and in the back of your
mouth. . Please ask your child if
they know any words that start with C. We continued our study of I and See and
we started studying my and the.
Check out the new sharing calendar
in the Friday Folder. This month please bring something for how old you are. If

imagination!

Holidays, books make great gifts. Book orders are due by November 22.

Fire fighter visit
Photos from today's visit.
Some parents have chosen to not have their students photos taken for promotional things. That includes are blog. When that happens I still want to post the photo of all the other students. I block out the face of the student who is not allowed to be photographed. If you want to change your preferences on this matter you may call the school.

Sight Words
What are sight words? "Sight words" is a term that
parents of early elementary students have most likely heard before, but not
many people outside of the educational community know what these important
words actually are. A simple sight words definition would be common words that
a reader should recognize on "sight." These important words are also
referred to as "high-frequency words" or "instant words."
Sight words are a group of common words with a
high-frequency of use that readers must know on sight, instantly, and
automatically in order to develop into an efficient and smooth reader.
Attached you will find one list of sight words. These would
be words that you child should be able to read by the end of Kindergarten. Some
ideas for at home practice:
ABC Order - Write your words in alphabetical order
Rainbow Words - Write your words in three colors
Picture Words - Draw a picture and write your words in
the picture
Scrambled Words - Write your words and then write them
again with the letters mixed
Ransom Words - Write your words by cutting out letters
in a newspaper or magazine and glue them on a paper
Delicious Words - Write your words in whipped cream,
peanut butter, or anything you can eat
Good Clean Words - Write your words in shaving cream on
a counter or some other surface that can be cleaned safely
Dirty Words - Write your words in mud or sand
Pasta Words - Write your words by arranging alphabet
pasta or Alphabits
3D Words -
Use modeling clay rolled thinly to make your words
Magazine Words
- Use an old magazine or newspaper and find your word
Cheer Your Words - Pretend you are a cheerleader and
call out your words
