The board should be making a decision tonight about the four day school week. You are welcome to attend the school board meeting. The meeting takes place at the district office, 1920 Long Street.

I will try to remember to post an update about any decisions made.

The morning class did a cool art project. We colored ourselves in our rain outfits and then made it rain with black color water colors. Our projects look a lot like the art work in this book, Wet World.

The afternoon class attended the school wide assembly.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is coming. We will be having a class party during regular kindergarten time. If you are going to make valentine's for classmates please make one for every child. There are twenty-one children in the morning class and twenty in the afternoon (I will update if we get any more new students). Please don't for get Miss Thompson and Mrs. Hummer they like valentines too!

It is simplest if you don't fill out the to part of the valentine. Then students can just walk around the classroom and drop one in each kid's folder.

If you don't want to buy candy try one of these ideas:

Bookmarks
Bouncy Balls
Play-Douh
Dollar Store toys
Target Dollar Spot

Friday Folder News

Hello Families,

Our letter for the week was Uu. When you say U your mouth is open and your tongue is down. Please practice at home with your child.

We had one new sight word this week, for. Please practice the sight words at home. See if your child can make the sight word out of his or her cheerio snack or try another fun idea.

            There is a BLUE paper in Friday Folder, this has the scores from the winter DIBLES assessments. If you have any questions please ask!!!!!

            There is an orange sheet of paper in Friday Folders that has numbers. Please practice these numbers at home with your child. 

            I am still looking for some help in the afternoon. If you could be a parent to come in every week one afternoon a week, please let me know.

Valentines day is coming soon! If you are going to buy valentines please make sure you buy one for every child. There are 20 kids in the morning class and 20 in the afternoon. Please don’t forget about Mrs. Hummer or Miss. Thompson. Most students are just filling in the FROM section on their valentine, creating generic valentines.

Please work with your child on letter names and letter sounds if they still struggle with this skill.

Every week I send home completed work in Friday Folders. If it says “Please Finish” or “Homework” please finish the paper at home and send it back to school so Miss Thompson can see it.

Thank you to all the parents who have been working with their children at home. It really shows. We are getting some readers! It is very exciting! Please keep working with your student!
