Afternoon today
The afternoon class took the chalk outside and had a ton of fun!! Look at what they drew.

Rock Eater will come home in Friday Folders!!!
Rock eater likes to eat rock. He can eat rocks
that are words or rocks that are sounds. Please practice words and sounds with
your child with rock eater.
Sometimes rock eater is hungry for just one sound, say the sound that he
is hungry for and have your child look for that rock to feed to Rock Eater. The
same with words. Please practice with your child.

DIBLES
Over the next two weeks every student in the district will be given assessments! This is a huge undertaking for the whole district. We will be giving similar assessments to those we gave in the fall. It helps us know what the kiddos know and don't know.
In Kindergarten this will have four parts!!!
1. Letter Naming - uppercase and lowercase all mixed up
2. Initial Sound - what is the first sound you hear in a word
3. Segmentation - what are all the sounds you hear in a word
4. Nonsense words - can you tell the sounds for a bunch of mixed up letters

Parent Teacher Club
The Parent Teacher Club is meeting this week. We will meet on Thursday January 12th at 5:30 PM. We would love to have more parents join us. Come hear about the upcoming carnival. Help decided how the playground money is spent. There are many aspects of the Parent Teacher Club, please come find out more.

Friday Folder News
Hello Families,
Welcome back to school. This week
the kids were extra squirmy and talkative.
Our letter for the week was R. When
you say R your voice box is turned on and the tip of your tongue goes up and
toward the roof of your mouth. R is a continuous sound, meaning that it can be
pronounced as long as you have breath to say the sound.
Book orders went home this week.
There are LOTS of good books, many of them are very cheap. Please take a look.
Book orders are due January 17, 2012.
Please
work with your child every day with their letter names and sounds. Some
students are still struggling with these. The reinforcement at home is
important. If you need help or ideas please contact me.
